Imagine, after all of it there was no character development on his side. In the (almost) very end of his life he still think of himself. The small flashback doesn't even give anything.
Man only deserves the psychiatric hospital ending cause he is still a fuckin PSYCHO. No more chance for redemption, only treatment.
