i feel like we're all so collectively tired of the whole "emotionally unavailable top+naive to a point of stupidity bottom+side character/secretly in love with the bottom who is better as a partner and person in general" trope where we watch a dumbass make all the decisions that piss us off the most while seeing the objectively better or two(or even more sometimes) love interests either be left in the dust or get a nothing burger of a love interest shoehorned in for them at the end to explain why the better option gave up first. I could actually rant so long about how these storylines could be fixed by just putting them with the right person or having a poly situation instead of putting so much stress on bottom to make a choice and then have them make the worst one. not naming specifics but 9/10 times both tops just need to work together and all of them need communication skills.
