I mean to ask, I get Annette deserving to get all good things in life, I support 100% BUT why does Heiner deserve "the best"....???
I get he was tortured but he did turn around and brutalize his wife enough that she tried to commit self unaliving TWICE... I know people seem to have forgotten that because the author threw his past unto our faces..
but i BELIEVE TWO THINGS CAN BE TRUE...
Heiner was tortured = True
Heiner became a torturer = True
My problem is why are people seemingly quick to forget that and hope he gets back with Annette.. Hence as you said, Him deserving "the Best"...
Bro literally also forgot that he went to a battlefield to a burned down temple to rescue her knowing three days has passed and she'd barely survive and risked his life with a sniper shooting him almost to death and and promised her victory and cried and begged for forgiveness and never took her money nor house, and even gave her a nice villa in a nice place and probably much more? He's redeeming what he did and of course he was bad and annette definitely understood and overcame that and accepted the kindness he's giving her now? GUYS. READ THE TITLE FFS AGAIN.
Ok… I’m beginning to get your POV… because his actions put her in harms way and he then rescues her in said harms way… he should be automatically forgiven..?
If he was not the way he was with her, she would NEVER had want to get as far away from him as possible.,. Hence the harms way…
…and because ones abuser cries, it should mean forgiveness..? Because he realized his faults and cries..???
What if she had died in her 2 past attempts..??? He would have felt justified in her weakness and she would have been vilified with her dad…
Heiner DOES not deserve the “best” because he fought in a war as their commander not for “saving” Annette’s life..
Tears does not cleanse….
It's not about tears. It's about the ACTIONS. I mentioned to you that he personally to rescue her from that place, and let's say she was taken as a hostage by that red head, he'd definitely surrender or risk a rescue mission. He never meant hee harm that's what I saw, yes he abused her verbally but never physically. Early chapters even when she tried to die by starving herself he felt panic and troubled by it. He's twisted yes but he at least acknowledged it and tried to fix what he ruined. + That's a big point none realized. If she didn't go through these hardships she wouldn't have become so strong. I speak from experience. My father was an abuser till now and he'd never confirm it and apologize. He instead keeps shoving it on my mom or anyone he hates js so he won't get accused of anything. I never justify a man's bad behavior. But what I see in heiner isn't a bad man. He's strong man, willing to go through his mental illness to achieve what his country wants from him and even what annette wants. He gets sometimes angry and cautious and that was bcs of her suicide attempts. I'm all on Annette's side but heiner was a really really well written character. I loved the angst and all and to add up he became a good person, one must learn how to forgive if the other person really won't do something harmful again. That's how much I love this story. I got you another recommendations that are almost the same but the ML is actually ass till the end.

MAY ALL THEY GET WHAT THEY DESERVE!!! HEINER AND ANETTE DESERVES THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!
