Yeah. I had an inkling, but now it's all but confirmed. Seems like a cult

There's obviously something greater happening here. There were others stealing the resources (that girl from a few chapters back) and others lying about their occupations to stay in the town. And the fact that they all unanimously voted for someone's death? Not a single other person except the new guy to play devil's advocate? There's is something seriously wrong with the order of that town. And you might say it's because they're in a apocalypse, but even if the most war torn situation, when people have just enough necessity to survive, it has been shown countless times that we're so adaptable and prone towards connections and empathy with other humans/creatures, something like this is a rarity - except in the cases of a Cult.... Which seems to be teetering towards. Also, bludgeoning someone to death is an extreme that would get anyone with basic decency worked up. Especially a father? (Also, I have a weird feeling that girl might have been stealing for him instead and he was the one caught, but idk). Also, he obviously fell for him because of Transference - where people fall for their Saviors because of elevated feelings due to being rescued.
