Honestly that's GREAT way to put it, hadn't even considered this but you are so right! On the other hand maybe the kid is too sickly and they don't consider he will make it to adulthood? But still, I really understand and agree with what you said, they are only 3 kids... maybe it's true that without the Hounds they wouldn't be safe or they wouldn't get food nor anything but damn, kids are important af

Welp, maybe its because I'm old but kids are always first priority, a future doesn't exist without children. You can say the hounds keep you alive but people age quickly. Especially in a world where you have to outrun a predator. Without healthy children the society is doomed. And from what I saw they didn't have many children so they should be doing everything they can to keep them healthy or do what humans use to do and all women should be having 5+ so they can be more disposable(horrible way to put it). The way they're going they are all doomed, which is probably the point.
