That's very true but it felt as though we were getting their true personalities when the developer had them formally introduced as children. We learned that they were brought up by an orphanage. That's what they have in common, that's how they came together, that's where they're connection begins. I won't lie, I did nOt want to read about them at first, I really only wanted the story to get back on track, but when ideas arise, their kind of hard to erase. So I'm only assuming the author couldn't abandon the fabricated fantasy of the trio. But I really do wish the creator could have made a separate story for them. I did not like the awaiting surprise.

Well it's not really necessary. In The Hatter they showed up briefly but I think it was enough to get some interest in them (Why they didn't killed Ryou? What's they aim?) At first, I didn't even thought they are connected. Now I can think back that neither Nobu nor Hal finished of Ryou and they kept him away from informational so they could let him go afterwards.
That character development you mentioned is happening in The Speaker. Thank author had a good reason not to mix the 2 story too much do they can stand as separate ones as well.
....... Honestly I wasn't interested in Sam, Hal, and Nobu to begin. I want the flashback to end, its to long. I want the story to get back to the main people >.<
