so ML(the duke) has a twin sister Issa and a half brother Carmide(the king).

Carmide is obsessively in love with Issa(his half sister)
He even kills Issa's husband out of jealousy
Issa is in love with the Pope and gets pregnant by him but because she fears Carmide will kill him she lies to the Pope and says the ML is the father of her child.

The child is Leisa and has the Pope's black hair but is hidden with a wig

Under the nations law children borne out of wedlock can still be legitimate heirs if they are borne through incest so that's the reason along with protecting the Pope that ML pretends to be the father of Issa's child.

Holy shit- Poor Issa. Her husband died and she can't even be with the man she loves, because her weird half-brother that's also the king and above the law is in love with her. I am intrigued tho. I will give this a read because even the subplot seems interesting.
