how can you claim she's clever and well read and show how stpuid and foolish she is in the same breath.

like even if she's not actually a villainess and doesn't have a bad bone in her. it doesn't take a genius to know that saying "I'm a villainess" convinces no one and that no bad person will ever proudly/smugly say they're a bad person like that.

she acts like a child playing house, having to state her role so that others and herself don't forget

I think it's because she's more book smart than street smart. She was always isolated and didn't really interact with other people because her sister would use her name when she went out. Meaning she probably doesn't really understand social norms well enough to recognize that the people around her are noticing she's just playing a part.

not noticing how others view her is one thing. even thinking for one second that her "act" (if you can even call it that) is convincing is a whole other thing, she acts stupid on all points amd yet we're supposed to believe she's smart. can a good person not also be smart? is naivety a necessary trait for a woman to be considered a good person in a manga? it's infantilization, that's what it is. being book smart but sheltered isn't anything as foolish as she is

I'm not saying she is an infant, I'm saying she just doesn't have as much social experience with other people. It's not the same to say a person who is an introvert and doesn't go out that much equates to her being stupid. She's just socially awkward and believes that the people around her do believe in her act. It's the same as if you wear a foundation that you believe matches your skin tone but in reality doesn't. However you continue to believe it does because everyone around says it looks good to the point where even you subconsciously believe it as well.

She can memorize information and use it but she has zero social skills or understanding. She flat out does not seem to comprehend emotions. Intelligence is different for everyone. She is clever, she is also a dummy.

You see it all the time from MLs, they can lead an army but can’t have a healthy relationship because they have no emotional intelligence.
This seems to lean more to comedy so they have the FL be quite silly and socially oblivious.
If she noticed people more often then she would have been way more impacted by her abuse making this a darker story so sorry yeah, she probably isn’t going to change

hate to be that person, but if that's supposed to be an autistic experience's portrayal, i take personal offense to that.

She has a high IQ but a low EQ. Those people certainly exist.

    sugsgloss June 20, 2025 6:22 am

she doesn't act like she has high iq at all. the only indication of high iq is the comments about how smart she is and the flashbacks of her in the study/library, which proves nothing comapred to the way she acts like a child that has never talked to anyone ever.

she might have low eq, but low eq isn't acting like a child that sees the sky for the first time when it's blue and is surprised when it's suddenly overcast, asking if it's still the sky. there's low eq and wtv that is.

That's exactly what you get when let a solely book smart person loose in the real world.

What she's lacking is practical experience. She doesn't have a mean bone, but she can bear grudges, be rather chatty and allows herself to quip from the side, because she's been ridiculed for it, not hit.

She observed mean behavior but cannot fathom the place it comes from and used the same analytic ability used to connect information memorized from books to emulate - without understanding the how and when, just going through the motions, absolutely unaware that the intention is IMPORTANT.

It's like the necklace. Yes sure, she could recall all the jewels mentioned in the books she read, but she made the wrong assumption about the one stone NOT mentioned in the books. And she did not LEARN from this experience.

She's labelled airheaded because she has a certain fatalistic streak - one you'd develop, too, if raised in such a family with no feasible way out. And she HAD a contingency plan, after all. Though I have no idea if she really processed the nickname of her original marriage prospect and the implications of that.

That one would have spit out her bones and nothing else.

"Borrow your cunning as a villainess"... well, they're handling her pretty well, after all.

Idk about that, I'm autistic and considered really smart but extremely dumb when it comes to social situations. I kinda relate to the mc in a sense that I'm usually fine with keeping a lot of things up if the people around me are reaffirming and/or going along with it as well. It makes a lot of sense to me and, again, makes her a relatable character to me
