Why not just invite him along? He knew how hard of a fan-girl she have been and is okay with it. He even joined her in the past. She should have just invited him along and the problem would have been solved. He's fine as long they spent time together.
If she paused and think a bit, it's not that complicate. But oh well, without this we won't get the drama. Will see how things play out.
