In my opinion it's still weird because he'd known him since he was a little kid, so it just kind of rubs me the wrong way. It just feels a bit weird to have had them meet at this point in their lives, regardless of age gap. It's kind of like if one of your parents starts dating one of your friends, who they met while you were both in high school. Yes they didn't have a romantic relationship then, and maybe your parents were still together, but later they started dating. It'd be weird because they knew your friend since you and your friend were in high school. Maybe not even a parent maybe it's your older uncle or aunt. But my point still stands.
But thats an extreme case qith other type of roles. This is just a 6 years gap and they were friend.
They're cute (physically) but it's hard to imagine the taller guy having a valid reason for ghosting him for 8 years, so I'm just gonna stop while I'm ahead
