Well, it's Japan if you look in manhwas they can't show they having sex until both of them are adults, so, if in mangas they usually have smutt with underage is cuz they allow this to be published
This is said a lot but no, AOC was not 13. Each prefecture had their own AOC and none of them are 13 so, even if the national AOC in Japan is 13, an adult would still go to jail if they slept with someone who was 13. Since each prefecture already had AOC covered, government officials didn’t feel the need to up the national AOC because it was already covered by each prefecture until a few years ago to match the AOC in Tokyo.
i lived in the Ishikawa Prefecture and we were told the AOC was 13 back then ig it was just that time :/ tysm for the info tho
in Japan the age of consent used to be 13 when I lived there but im pretty sure they made it 16 recently years..? but thats still weird.. i mean drawing minors like this (even tho it is common to have sexual relations around that age in Japan)
