Its beneficial to him cuz since the prince is the only child of the previous emperor he could claim the throne any time if wish for it so he needs leverage to prevent tht from happening since the current emperor has no imperial blood n the prince is the only child legitimate or otherwise the emperor only had the prince as his only legitimate blood
