Fr!!! Like is it that much to ask for one who doesn't talk/think bad about herself and truly believes she isn't worth ml time!!! She doesn't have to be some op bad ass, just make her normal, like PLEASE !!!
I understand what you mean. It is something that seems "natural" and "pure" for them, the fact of apologizing for their flaws. Old stories about Japan, Korea... All of them have this apologizing issue. Sometimes it makes you get out of the story, but after you have read it several times, you tend to ignore this and get the good part.

Fellow sweet people, remember that Asians do lots of plastic surgery, use filters and love to look awesomely thin and it looks awkward:D
But still, it's part of their culture.
i wish japan (korea and china too) would move on from the naive, so humble she insults herself bc of her lower than hell self esteem that makes it so she accepts horrible treatments and thinks the worst of people in an almost insulting way. bc it's not cute, it's not endearing, it's pathetic and painful to watch
