That was brutal the things they did to him, no matter what they say to him the fact that they abandoned him, and they let him take the fall on the things he didn't do, and yet they still want to come to him, thrt was fucking shameless, to the things they do to him, I agree he should never cooperate with those despicable thing anymore ND not giving them a second chance.

Yeah and it’s been like at least a year since it all happened (looks like it could be more though). If he was really sincere he would have come a long time ago…

I've been reading the novel, and in case anyone's interested in what happened in his old department:

First off, his former boss hated him for being so competent and was just a shitty person in general. So at one point, there was an incident of a dragon going berserk and MC managed to single-handedly stop it, though sustaining serious injuries in the process (basically, even though his "magic pathways" are physically recovered, if he uses a lot of magic at once or is under emotional strain, his magic pathways act like they're still damaged and he has severe pain, nosebleeds, loss of consciousness, etc).

When the government investigated, they were more concerned about having someone running around powerful enough to beat a dragon than grateful for MC having saved a whole damn city. Additionally, MC's former boss was interviewed and bullshitted about how dangerous MC was, completely throwing him under the bus.

As a result, MC now has to live under goverment surveillance at all times. Like, one time he oversleeps and a frigging SWAT team busts down his door and points guns at him. The best is when another dragon rampage incident happens and MC's involved in stopping it, but when the authorities are called to collect said dragon they instead IMMEDIATELY handcuff MC instead. And MC is just... so used to being treated like that by this point that he's surprised when his current boss shows up furious and starts yelling at them (she wanted to make sure he wouldn't have to go through shit again).

I still want them to suffer, the things they did on him was too brutal and unforgivable.

I'm contemplating reading this, it has high rating and it also has comedy tag. But, are you saying that the one who made the mc suffer, will not suffer? and the whole story is just showing the mc being monitored by the government?

Not sure how closely this will follow the novel (MC is much more damaged there), and I haven't finished reading yet, but...

MC has actually gotten screwed over twice in his current life. The first has to do with the wizarding union and is part of the reason he hates them, and he DEFINITELY makes them suffer. The specific person who did the most psychological damage (MC's foster father of sorts) hasn't gotten his yet (still reading atm), but it's really only a matter of time.
Obviously MC's former boss was the second screw-over, but he hasn't appeared even once thus far. I think he's stuck in the boonies now, but he kinda serves as more of a plot device for MC's trauma than an actual character.

So... it's complicated, I guess? The unit set to monitor him is either headed by or full of dragons and they eventually exert pressure on other govt departments so he'll be their responsibility alone. They're practically allies at that point, though it's unofficial.

Oh, so like he's not actually suffering all the time? It's just that, I don't want to read stories where it will make my blood boil, specially if the MC is suffering and he can't do anything about it, or like the mc is a pushover. Cause I'll probably suffer while the mc suffers. ╥﹏╥

MC is definitely no pushover. He still has psychological trauma that resurfaces under certain conditions, but it either makes him feel physically ill (nausea, body pain) or murderous. He'll often conveniently find justification for using magic in the field, circumvent regulations to acquire evidence, and use any loophole imaginable to his advantage.

So he's smart? and know his circumstances well? Like he just don't accept it when people tries to hurt him and bully him? How is he compared to the MC Life of a magic academy mage (saw it in your reading list) I'm sorry for asking so many questions, I just want to know if i'll be able to enjoy reading the story
