I don’t feel bad for songrik for what jh said. Was it mean and uncalled for? Yeah but so was everything songrik allowed his friends to do jh for weeks. the only difference is jinhyeong actually feels remorse upon seeing how his words impact sr, whereas sr sees and even points out how he’s noticed jh suffering (walking with his head down) and lets the abuse continue, even bragging how it could’ve been worse (physical beat up) but it wasn’t. So yeah, I am deeply sorry you had a traumatic childhood, but that does not exempt u from doing shitty things and receiving 0 remorse later on in life

?? I dont think you get it, they both hurt each other. And yeah Song-rik could've also complained, he shouldn't have bottled up his feelings but for him, thats all he knows, he knows there's little to do about his situation so why complain. At the end of the day JH is a well brought up rich kid, someone that Song-rik knew could throw just Song-rik away at a flip of his mind. So he acts cool so that JH stays with him. no i don't think what he did to JH should go without consequences and what he did was fucked up but it really is true that what Song-rik goes through is way worse than what JH was going through, so for JH, someone very privileged in life to go around and tell everyone in their extremely classist school Song-rik's business is just fueling the bullying that Song-rik was already going through. All JH experienced was a few weeks of delinquents bad mouthing him and tripping him, even then he still had his classmates to defend him and stick by him, but Song-rik? Imagine the damage privileged ass JH and his classmates could do to Song-rik. If you still dont see how what JH did to Song-rik is worse then there's no helping you.

And also if you're going to talk about standinh up, JH has also seen how his classmates and peers discriminate against Song-rik and other kids from mujo but did he say anything? They both hurt each other, and JH more to Song-rik. They're both hurt and they both took it out on each other.

Hate to break it to you but living an underprivileged life doesn’t give you a free pass to be an asshole to ppl you feel inferior to. Nothing JH said was a lie, they were family and song-rik took him for granted and treated him like shit bc his self hatred and self projection of the situation. He literally told JH he needs to be as miserable as he is for them to be considered family in his eyes.

They are both immature but JH put up with a lot of bullshit before he finally exploded, and like op said he actually felt remorseful about it the moment he did it. If song-rik had his way he would continue to use isolation until JH finally broke down, he just wasn’t expecting his little pet to bite back. Misery loves company” as they say.

oh i understood Jinhyeong's crash out to him, that was totally valid and Song-rik deserved to hear that.

What wasn't deserved was Jinhyeong airing out Song-rik's abandonment and family circumstances to his other privileged classmates that have been discriminating Song-rik and other kids from mujo, giving them more fuel to keep on the harassment that they started. Whether Jinhyeong likes it or not what he said will affect Song-rik more than what Song-rik did to Jinhyeong because of his power and influence will affect the way their classmates treat kids from Mujo, and if his father catches wind of Song-rik? what then?

Jinhyeong cutting Song-rik off and making him feel his pain when Song-rik betrayed him was enough to make them even so what he did at the end of the chapter was. just cruel.

Also "pet"? you clearly misunderstood their bond, even years later Jinhyeong still calls their relationship genuine and the love they felt for each other was real which is the reason why their fall out hurt each other so much.

Jinhyeong liked Song-rik because he helped him out his mold and encouraged him to embrace his true self, and Song-rik liked Jinhyeong cause he treated Song-rik like an actual person deserving of respect, its just their unfortunate circumstances won at the end. They both became like their fathers.

tl:dr All im saying is no one was in the right here so to lend Jinhyeong more sympathy when they both hurt each other and when its clear Song-rik, though Jinhyeong's influence and power and regardless of Jinhyeong's intention and feelings, will be subjected to more discrimination and pain is just wrong.

Agree to disagree ig. JH made it clear he didn’t want anything to do with him but he didn’t take no for an answer

thanks for the reply, I’ve really enjoyed reading your points! I’d like to clarify I’m not saying it was justified in the slightest, I even started my comment saying it was uncalled for, the point I was making and as was pointed out by the other commentator is that his behavior leaves little sympathy to be had AS THE READER after witnessing how he was acting, I.e manipulative with the intention to trap JH in an isolated relationship. jh was 100% in the wrong for the reasons you mentioned (the broader impact d/t the societal differences in their standing and upbringing) at the end of the chapter, but as a reader with an omniscient viewpoint (lol), we are clearly shown how Song-rik’s actions don’t exactly paint him as someone I am dying to bend over backwards crying for. “I don’t think you get it” I do, I simply commented my opinion lol

had this flashback been told through a singular pov (jinhyeong’s), I would’ve felt more inclined to see song-rik’s passive participation as a bully as being a lesser evil to jinhyeong’s airing out his business, but the reality is, WE SEE how song-rik actively plots to hurt JH by feeding his bullies the insecurities JH has confided in him in, WE SEE how he confronts him and wishes for him to literally be at rock bottom. Going back to my initial comment, how am I as a reader supposed to feel sad for someone who does all that? I feel bad for his circumstances and the treatment he has received from his father, his classmates, and from JH that led to this, but I still don’t feel bad that there were consequences to your actions
