I'm a bit confused, I contacted the OG team and they told me they weren't working on it nor has anyone contacted them about picking it up. And I told them they could contact me if anyone else wanted to pick it up. Did you contact them? It's best to inform the previous scanlation team before working on the same series, even after the 3 month grace period is over ^^

yeah I didn't contact them, since I was under the impression that if the raws have been out for more than 2-3 months (in this case more than a year) then it's fair game for whoever wants to pick it up. & I decided to pick it up, asked my friend to drop in a comment too. maybe I still should've informed the previous team but I wish u had checked the comment section out a little too. I'm just frustrated I wasted hours upon this when this has happened to me before too (I even asked for permission from the og uploader last time round). anyway, you did a great job at it so that's nice

It's fair game to pick it up, but it's best to contact the scanlation team in case of extenuating circumstances. I've had experiences where I've been uploaded over even after the 3 month period (due to personal circumstances) and even though it's fine and I don't have any problems with that rule (even now), that didn't stop me from personally feeling like *shit*. I don't think that person was in the wrong by going by the books *at all,* but emotionally it had an impact and I couldn't bring myself to work on that series again. I'll always message the previous scanlation team to prevent similar situations and prevent someone else from feeling like that; they even graciously offered their raws and TL. The previous scanlators were also glad I notified them personally before working on it. I didn't comment on mggo since most scanlation teams don't go inside of mggo comment sections to see if a series has been picked up as picking-up is usually handled through DMs. I'd been working on it since May but your friend's comment wasn't seen by me for a month; commenting (alone) is not efficient. I was following what's considered standard when picking up a series that had been seemingly dropped and what I wished that person would've done to me. I'm not happy that you felt you had wasted your time, I've felt that way but on the opposite end. I have anxiety right now over a future series I want to pick up but there's no way to check if someone else is working on it (I don't have a JTL for that anyways, but I digress). In future cases, I'll leave a comment from now on as I understand some people operate differently and there's no reason to not cover my bases and prevent someone else from wasting their time. Have a good day ^^

yeah, I realise I definitely should've contacted the team first. that's my bad. also, you've been working on it before I started so i guess it's a good thing u got done w it earlier too and uploaded it or ur hardwork would've been wasted. and yeah I totally understand that feeling, for my last two series I literally commented AND contacted the original uploader, yet someone still translated and uploaded over me. it feels really really shitty and it's sad there isn't a workaround around it. anyway, it was majorly my fault so I apologise if I came off as rude or anything I just felt really really frustrated since this is the third time it's happening and it sucks. for ur next work, maybe u could try uploading a chapter notice announcing you're taking over it? like other uploaders do. I'm thinking of doing that too so there's lesser chance of other people just sniping it.
just a heads up y'all this manga has been picked up by a user!!! it might be updating soon!!
