It’s the universal law that requires authors to jump through hoops to excuse the toxic behavior of the man (in straight romances) or top (in gay romances). It’s practically ironclad at this point
Excuse shitty behavior under the guise that one of the leads was lying or withholding information. It’s idiotic and lazy writing. Flynn has trauma from being stereotyped incorrectly to then brush it off and not bring it up? And what’s with Hugo’s self serving attitude when he entered into this relationship with Flynn on his own lol
