feels like the author’s intentionally blurring the line between horror n toxic romance
the whole plot leans hard on mental illness, too!
I’m really curious if they’ll end up calling out the toxicity or just glamorizing it
i def wouldn't consider guwon coming onto jinwoo the morning after they executed woojun's father "smut". it wasn't sexy. they didn't even have sex. we were in jinwoo's point of view, and if he was terrified, that tells you the entire scene was meant to be framed as something terrifying. i think their relationship is developing well (despite it not being positive). jinwoo begins to have feelings for guwon > they have sex > jinwoo witnesses guwon killing a human > jinwoo starts fearing him > guwon begins to like him even more. there's a reason why the creator revealed that the unrequited tag was really referring to guwon the moment that chapter released (when he killed woojun's dad). there's a lot of nuance in this story, and it's probably best you don't take everything at face value.
People in the comments are terrifying excusing certain things that could be different just because it’s a shit world. Scratch just the fact of the trial, which if that's how you wanna live oh well. (reasons why in these stories like TWD I would seriously just kms don't want to deal with other selfish and crazy humans who've been waiting for this) But the way he went and killed that family of the vet when they posed no threat? That was disgusting. Just say “sorry won't work” and move on (which clearly he is mentally deranged so of course not) and the fact that the vet stayed is more crazy. And probably did so many other times. I honestly wish they lowered the smut because this is a good plot for horror but the switch of them getting it on and Mc’s more than conflicted feelings are hard to read and definitely wouldn’t want MC losing his mind and becoming as deranged as him. At the beginning was pretty hot (by forcing myself to forget that he threw up because of the kiss), but having smut after what happened made me nauseous. I really enjoy this crazy story and can't wait to find out what the heck is there more to uncover, but with their situationship, it's not my type of toxic I guess, and if he did killed his father for no reason just like the vet's fam that's gonna be a rollercoaster.
I do like this author so I do have curiosity as to whether this will be a purposely bad ending, or in what unrealistic way they'll make their relationship have a good ending.
