They blame her for the duchess's death solely because she is considered illegitimate. Since she was born from an affair, instead of holding the duke responsible, they have chosen to direct their blame towards her.

If I'm not mistaken, the mother was coming back from her parent or something, trying to get divorce, then the accident happened

So most of the characters in the story are finding it easier to blame the poor mc for existing rather than being reasonable human beings

It really always baffles me how they blame the child for existing and not the father for being a whore with a dick for a brain. Like u go and be a manwhore, with no protection, and expects your sperm to have natural selection, like nope not the duchess’ eggs. I feel God’s disappointment to see men not use the brain He graciously gifted them. Also if he hated her so much, he can let her be tbh. By the looks of it, idt they would shame him for abandoning his child. In fact they would rejoice.

It's much easier to point fingers than to accept the truth and take responsibility. I can understand the kids to an extent; they are young, easily influenced, and emotional. However, the Duke blaming his daughter for the accident is wild. He’s a piece of shit, and I hope she finds a way to get her revenge on them.

It's indirectly her fault, in a very roundabout way.
The duchess could not forgive her husband for having an illegitimate child, that he only brought in the household to use as a stand-in for the legitimate daughter because he didn't want to marry her off into the royal family.
So she planned to get a divorce and take all 4! children with her away from that scheming husband. But she died on her way back.
Husband came to the conclusion, if the illegitimate child didn't exist, his wife wouldn't have tried to get a divorce and wouldn't have died in the carriage incident, so it must have been the child's fault, and so he also told his both sons the mother died only because the illegitimate child existed, omitting out the rest of the story.
Nobody bothered to tell anything to the youngest sister, so she has no idea what is going on.

They play her bc 1) it is easier to blame a child and 2) the father was raped. Unlike most other stories, he wasn't unfaithful to the duchess. The emperor and empress, along with the other dual family, wanted to bring the echabar(?) family down a notch. So they arranged for a commoner (mc's mom) to sleep with the father. They drugged him, so he was knocked out and helpless when the mc's mom forced herself on him.

Granted, mc's mom was blackmailed into sleeping with him, but she was conscious and awake while the Duke was knocked out cold.
