Bruh this is was the first paragraph idk why it's not getting sent through…I'm cursed after that part I said why is this reply to me so damn fucking long loll. With that out the way let's reply: The trope has everything to do with gender and it's mad frustrating. My previous points still stand. EVERY SINGLE genius type of character has to be childish, and when I say childish, I mean acting in a 'tsun' way – not giving the MC a chance and just acting completely arrogant despite going to his lectures and seeing his capabilities. This is why I called her childish. I do like 'tsun' characters, and arrogant characters can be nice, but that is just not what she is. She is too bratty and childish in the worst way possible, and mind you, my actual type are bratty characters, just not childish and inconsiderate.
Did a man write this? I noticed the women that are supposed to be geniuses or powerful tend to be moody, childish, and unreasonable when they are. Like playful attitudes, childish behaviors? Fine, funny even…Childish mindset that is hypocritical and makes no sense? Annoying. It makes no sense for her to act this way when he helped her through his lectures etc. In fact it's a bonus. Now, he can actually view her magic and give her pointers to help her grow. It's an advantage to get private lessons by someone you attend lectures for. If she was smart she'd be more than happy to let him join even if he's not that talented in tangible magic. It's like have a professional coach who retired and is passed their prime. He has the knowledge to give her pointers so of course she should have been more than happy to have him join even if it's on the sidelines.
And if someone were to try to say that her actions are justifiable bc he acted like a talentless bumb all his life, it's obvious he's changed since well he is HOLDING FUCKING LECTURES that masters or higher level mages are attending, Like what? And if a higher up sent him with her, they obviously know 'they" can handle it. So her logic should be to trust the higher ups who know better and have more experience. The only thoughts I'd have were "Is he going to be okay" and "Is he going to slow me down" which I would keep to myself until his life was in danger. From there I'd Tell him to stand to the side and cover me the best that he can. That's why I think for a genius or someone talented her logic is dumb, socially, emotionally, and logically.
I hate when authors do this bc and I'm speaking for all women characters like this bc this isn't a tangible women bc this is simply not our experience: for a woman who is supposed to be, for her gender, used to being looked down on before showing her true prowress she should be more socially aware that what she is doing is the same and to keep it to herself until she actually sees his talents. I mean comparitively to males she should emotionally more aware of what not to say. And I say this bc it's obvious that they are still living in a patriarchal setting that treat women the same as this world with how many male characters are in higher positions to women. So socially she should be more observant in judging him first without seeing for herself what he can do.
