Had the same conversation with someone a few days ago. He's a "green flag" they say, except he keeps pushing every single boundary short of forced penetration and seeing what he can get away with. Saw someone comment on how much they loved a manga and how they loved the fact it didn't have rape when, in fact, it very much did on the first chapter, during the characters' very first encounter with the MC himself calling the ML a rapist.. but it wasn't rape for these people because MC was too drunk and disoriented to resist, therefore it's consensual. This is why I never take people seriously when they cry that it's just "lines on paper," "fiction!" when it's clearly fucking up their perception of consent. Fiction doesn't exist in a vacuum.
yesterday someone was going around saying jk from jinx isn't a rapist cuz Dan is a grown man who has the ability to say no. they literally could not digest the fact that coercion is *not* consent. jk even rapes dan when he's drugged but they ignored that part too. I mean, sure go ahead and enjoy jinx all u want, but at least admit something for what it is.
I think people don't know that not just penetration is rape. Violating your personal space like that, just using their way around your boundaries is sexual assault because you don't want to.

I just dropped a story where overwhelming majority readers were calling the top a green flag and saying he's so respectful and wasn't forceful at all and hoping that kind of love finds them irl, all just because he didn't penetrate the bottom against his will. The top was in fact crossing all boundaries though, trying to force kisses that were rejected, then kissing the neck next because "you said no kisses and this is not your lips". Just overall coming off coercive and pushy. The bottom was obviously a pushover who keeps allowing it but that's besides the point.
People fr consider anything a green flag just because the bar is rape. As long as it's not rape, they're green. Ong the standard for being a good guy is in hell (￣ε(#￣)Σ
