If ml is in kings inner circle and has great intellect how does he have zero control or nuance over his own house his sister lives in??? They should have made the plot where troubles in maors were more conspicuous and greed behind smiling faces. Its too obvious about the maids, house falling apart, sis acting out... ml looks like an idiot for not noticing

He most likely got commoner/servant mentality. From what i remember he recently become a noble.
Just because you’re in proximity of certain class, doesn’t mean you know the DEATILS of their lifestyles.
Plus he never had a proper education regarding being a noble.

Tho pls correct me if im wrong about sum.
It’s been a bit since i read this and am just reading the updates. Forgot ALL details.

It doesn't matter if he is a commoner he was a wealthy commoner and they were not without money. He has the intelligence to be in kings circle and lead an army but not his household? That doesn't sound right tbh despite you background. There can be discrepancy in nobility mannerisms but tgats it. You cant have a tight ship over mercenaries and win a war but not your household that has your beloved sister? Odd. I can see him not realising his sisters behaviour as hes busy but he also doesn't have guards on her and thats odd when hes from mercenary background where he should feel some type of paranoia ok keeping an eye on loved ones in case of danger. I just don't get how he knows nothing of his own house but knowledgeable to climb up the ladder to be in a kings circle

Oh i forgot about his background.
That’s true he was some rich/well off family. He should’ve had an education about something.
    True true.

    Is he just dense then?
Not really cuz he defended well when Edele was badmouthed in the town. He was somewhat eloquent too
I wonder if the author will explain it

My guess is that it's simply because to an extent he doesn't know how to manage a house.

The FL has been educated from a young age on how to look after a manner and perform the duties of a noble lady, which the ML and his sister has not had and are now struggling.

The ML although he knows the mannor isn't running how it's supposed to, he's a mercenary and doesn't care that much, nor is going to put in efforts (which I'm assuming are supposed to be performed by the lady of the house) into the matter.

Also I don't think he was from a well off family it seems like the ML came from a middle class commoner family.

In summary the running of the household is a ladies job and the ML isn't a lady so ... it makes sense why the household was a mess.

Hmm tbh that is very surface level. He is a mercenary that managed to get into a very high position of safeguarding an emperor. That means having a very cautious personality. How can he have foresight of protecting a monarch when he can not even take care of a house. The man of the house? He has yet to take a wife so it his responsibility to take care of his own land yet he seems to walk into a house in disarray and does not think "hmm the head maid i put in charge because i do not have a wife is not upkeeping this place".

I can let other things have an excuse like his relationship with his sister but even that is walking on a thin line. It all seems odd that he is THAT clumsy of his own house no matter how big it is because he is doing all of this for his sister. Yet he lets others take care if her and make her entertain random male knights. This behaviour and actions dont even make sense with his character and tole regardless of where he came from. If you hade to survive as a children the. You will be even more cautious about your home and loved ones out of all things.

The author should have taken then angle of truly being deceived by his servants where FL unraveling the lies will make sense.

From what's been revealed from the story so far, the ML only has gotten his place because of his military achievements. That being said, that doesn't equate to him knowing the ins and outs of how nobles interact and the cunning nature of how the servants can be.

In simpler words, he's just a musclehead; he hasn't displayed any sort of cunning, and that's supposed to be there. Since that gap is supposed to be filled by the FL, who knows the ins and outs of noble life.

So far the explanation given is that he simply doesn't care enough nor is he going to put in the effort into his household. He didn't even know of his little sister's ill treatment until she was boasting about the FL.
