What the heck

I get that taste is subjective but why is there SO MUCH hate? This is super cute. The art is so pretty and the characters are adorable even if they do make some dumb decisions they're literally high schoolers. It's genuinely just cute and simple and I think the writing and pacing is totally fine.

Idk, I've seen stuff before where people complain about pacing and it's like... ??? Why? What is paced weirdly? They fell in love too fast? They're childhood friends and had a pre-established relationship, we're just witnessing when it develops beyond friendship finally. Idk y'all... Like I said, taste is subjective and people can express their negative opinions but this just feels unearned...

Yeah I thought it was cute? I get if people don’t like it but I didn’t think the pacing was weird at all? I liked it overall. Cute, simple manga we don't get a lot of nowadays.

Agreed! I like just a simple and sweet little story. And yeah, the pacing felt totally fine to me, I really don't get it but this site tends to have confusing reviews lol

I don't think this deserves hate but the complaints about weird pacing are right. The tone shifts and jumps a lot, with little structure to the characters themselves; it's hard to sit here (i.e. type this) to point to exact moments and simply say they don't work, but it's overall about how the reading experience can seem jarring when you have scenes with no build up or have characters build tension between eachother before they had been better established to the audience. Ryuji kissing Souta in the first chapter is the perfect sum of this, I think, since it had little build up and happened directly after Souta finished reasoning that he now had mind reading powers. These become problems because we're jumping into plot before even knowing who we're dealing with; instead of introducing the main character, the narrative started by introducing his relationship to Ryuuji-- which gives us no real hold in who either of them are, and even less of an understanding as to how Souta accepted his predicament so easily and why it took so little for Ryuji to become impulsive enough to kiss Souta (since all we know is he had been the one to avoid Souta). In ch2, this starts to get rectified by the expository backstory... but instead of being used as a way to build up the characters, it only builds more conflict between Souta and Ryuji.

I could try to pinpoint more moments on why the rest of the series has clunky pacing but I'm unsure if your question on "what is paced weirdly" was even an actual question so... to summarize, things that are relevant to setting the baseline of the story, like the characterization as well as the setting (which includes the inciting incident and mind reading), are being "rushed through" in favor of the cutesy and erotic moments. This makes things like the stupid decisions more grating than endearing because it can easily make the audience less connected to the character. It's not a one-size-fits-all, set-in-stone sort of rule, and lots of people can read without feeling the "bumps" in the narrative itself, but if you analyze it you can see why a lot of people felt then.

But, anyway, it's not like this manga is the worst case of these sorts of problems too so... I guess you can just ignore the rant lol

I mean fair enough lmaoo. I honestly forget any specific details of this other than thinking it was very cute. As someone who enjoys short stories, I guess I'm more forgiving of pacing. I'll have to revisit your analysis once I re-read the story cause I am curious to see if I agree but at the moment I can't remember much lol
But I think you made some valid points, like I said I'll have to read again. I just really didn't look into it too much since sometimes I just wanna read a story with no thoughts lol I think there's always something that could be unsatisfactory in anything and nearly every work can be nit-picked, but I just took this one at face value which was very cute and shiny in my opinion.
I'll get back to you if I agree when I re-read eventually hehe
