well it's not really obvious if they were in a relationship, if I get it right their relationship was a little ambigious. It's rape yes but the author was rather upfront with that fact and there is no romanticizing of the subject. On his defense he was rather of a lonely type not exactly remembering any of his high school classmates it's probably been a decade or something at least thats what I think. And on the victims defense the rapist was cute and petite boy not anywhere near of that soulless terminator body with a scar to his face.
