Torn. As someone who has tried their hand at webtoon and purchased a digital tablet for it, it is fucking hard. The plotting, panelling, coloring, designing...people give less value to art and more value to STEM, which sucks. That's why I abandoned art and got a STEM job lol. Ngl, if I were her, I would be hurt and frustrated and literally vomiting that people are taking my livelihood away from me. I am seeing the author crash out emotionally, which I get. Obviously death threats ain't okay, but you know, as someone familiar with mental breakdowns, I give it a pass from my side. Other people may not give it a pass, that's entirely valid. But I know some folks feel like me.
I acknowledge that it's hypocritical to defend the author and to keep reading on this site. But honestly, I am sympathetic to her as a working adult tryna get by. Every cent matters and these platforms don't pay them that well.
The solution? The least we can do is to not flaunt mangago around on twitter and literally send screenshots of the pirated material to the author to trigger her. How dumb can people be? Can't everyone just read quietly? Why go ahead and hurt the author and everyone who relies on this site for their mental well-being (teens and adults who can't afford shit and uses manga as therapy)
I do thing it's good to have open convos about this. We should use these kinda opportunities to discuss the situation
