Negative Comments on Manhwas

One time I commented abt how disappointed I am that a side character from one of my fave manga was actually a gr00mer in the comment section, I didn't drop it because fortunately this character didn't show up a lot, but stil it disgust me and I want to say it. And there's this person replying my comment saying exactly like what you said it's crazy how we went from "Hey guys, if you hate this so much, instead of harrassing people who enjoy this kind of entertainment, why don't you ignore it?" To "DON'T EVER SAY ANYTHING BAD EVER ABOUT ANYTHING!!!"

depends on how many people comment on the same things, will often feel annoyed by that.

It's almost always a response to people complaining about a tired non-con trope too. They get really mad that people don't share the same fetishes as them and feel personally attacked. If you ever check their profiles you're guaranteed to find them complaining about some other work for a different reason (they hate a character/the pacing/the writing etc) but as soon as you complain about SA you're suddenly ungrateful for being served "free food" and still expressing your dislike for it. People who say that are just uncomfortable with an opposing opinion/disgust toward their fetish and jumping through hoops to get people to stop expressing themselves. They don't deserve to be given the time of day.

i saw this one person in the incomplete combustion comment section bitching abt how as illegal readers we're not allowed to have opinions because its a bdsm manhwa (which the tags don't even say btw so theres no way for illegal readers to know). but then they go on to say LEGAL readers can't complain abt a story they paid for either. like girl bffr are ppl who read smth just supposed to blindly praise it? and keep in mind this same mfer rates several things one stars in their profile. so ig ppl arent allowed to have opinions only when its abt stuff they like

I was thinking about that wacko too when I wrote my comment! If you check their other topics they're very excited for more SA/abuse scenes which the majority are repulsed by so what they're really trying to say in so many words is "guys please stop shitting on my fetish!!" Also idk about other people but BDSM doesn't and shouldn't imply abuse (at least to me). And the one person who's agreeing with them writes negative reviews and complains about other stories. Sometimes I wonder if these people are aware of how hypocritical they sound.

BDSM is alllll about consent so even if things get rough there's consent. Considered, Reversible, Informed, Specific, Participatory. My favourite is when they say smut can't be well-written. Like, honey, AO3 has a LOT to teach you, on top of even these dark themes can be in manhwas (p3dophilia and whatnot) it just needs to be handled with tact which it often isn't.

Yes like they're so hypocritical and constantly try to make excuses like "b-b-but a rating isn't an opinion it's a vague signal" when no you dumb fuck a vague signal is still an opinion. I think the issue is a lot of immature readers, but also a lot of negative comments for the sake of being negative. I’m ok with negative comments that are constructive, but it gets tiring when all you see if “x is bad, I hate it, why does anyone read this sh*t” over and over again. That’s when you start to wonder if you hate something so bad, why continue the torture?
