UPDATE: I've finished it and omfg was that good, I've shed even more tears and some are just pure happiness AAAAAAAAAA
The characters are so much more complex than I'd expected, particularly Annette, I just loved her so much. And Heiner, he had my heart wretched too, was NOT expecting to feel so much for him after all that!! I'm a bit sad Joseph didn't stay with Annette but I'm happy she still keeps contact with them all. I love that they gave such realistic depth to all the side characters we met along the way as well, they really didn't feel like just side characters at all.
I feel like I'll come back to this at some point but kinda scared to see all the suffering again after seeimg the end of their journey ^^
I dunno if my period is coming soon but i literally have been crying non-stop throughout this like wtfffff Annette my sweet girl I feel so bad ;-;
Is their relationship incredibly toxic... yes.. but im thoroughly enthralled by it, I want Annette to find peace and happiness, and I do see where ML's head is even if I don't agree with the extent of what he's done (I also insta stopped crying when it got to his backstory LOLOL maybe i just don't care about guys LOLOLOL)
Also is it just me or was the whole 'becoming a war nurse' giving Atonement??
