Well telling him she’s a princess leads to her being a much, much more important hostage that even he probably can’t ignore.
His enemies have the advantage with that kingdom and he now has the youngest princess.
She did try to run away and promptly almost got raped, she isn’t being harmed or neglected and has been promised a way home.
I think she and him are developing a relationship because they actually have nothing to do with each other and are actually getting to know each other pretty casually in their downtime? They have no reason to be cruel to each other.
I completely agree with you on the stand in bride thing. I get that she didn’t think she’d be harmed and owed her life but that was still a crazy thing to do as a princess.

I can understand that she's trying to figure out her situation, but at this point, she already accepted every thing this girl is following this man like a puppy, instead of trying to tell him that you got the wrong bride only once she said it only once.
