( ̄へ ̄)honestly she's quite understandable for people who have siblings and is struggling with low self esteem/self-hate. Not to mention her parents are shitty.
My girl is psychologically conflicted. I think people forget a child develops self worth by how their family treats them, more specifically their parents.
She’s not just sad—she’s conditioned. When your entire existence is framed around being “less than” or “in the way,” you don’t just wake up one day and unlearn that. Her self-hate isn’t drama for drama’s sake—it’s survival logic. And now with the possibility of her sister being alive, it’s like her entire coping system is short-circuiting. She’s grieving, guilty, resentful, hopeful, terrified—all at once. That’s not just a character arc, that’s a trauma response.
I get that it's becoming somewhat annoying that she's going one step forward and 3 steps back but healing isn’t linear. Sometimes it looks like regression. Sometimes it looks like saying the quiet part out loud—like wishing someone was dead just so you could breathe. That doesn’t make her evil. It makes her human.
┐(´ー`)┌ It's hard to heal when your enemy is self-hate. When a child isn’t loved, they don’t learn to hate their parents...they learn to hate themselves. Because the first mirror we ever look into is the eyes of the people who raised us.

I'm very frustranted with her but not mad because I was thinking along those lines. I'm also sad for the ML because she is hurting him not only by hurting harself but also by denying his feelings and their history. I'm not too frustrated with ML because there's a limit to what he can do before he also turns into an abuser by excessevely trying to protect her even from herself. Also, he's no therapist. I would be confused on how to help her too.
But what I actually complain about this story is the mystery abuse. There parents seem to be abusing all of their children in different ways. Obviously, with Marie being the most abused one. And it has been hinted many times that there ARE reasons but we just don't get there!!! And it's enfuriating!!! So far i'm only kind of understaning the father. The mother is a complete mystery. But he has mom issues especialy about studies. So he was protecting Marie from men by making her look (and believe she is) unatractice, mostly just so she would never leave him and would do all the things his mom made him believe he's not capable of doing properly. My theory is the grandmother abused her son just like she did to the girls but Marie was the only one able to handle it and the father resents her for it because she has his mom's intellect but also needs her to do his job. And let's not forget the sister was fluent in that language at the age of 6 so even if grandma said she wasn't smart enough she is very smart still.
Why do I say the brother is likely abused as well? I'm under the impression the parents are trying to make him as excellent as Marie.
My last observation is the idiotic idea to not just tell Marie what the hack is her father's crime. My guess is intentionaly negleting his duties as a lord to his state and people by dumping it all on Marie (many of those things when she was a child). But regardless of what it is by not telling her he just added to her stress. He should have told her even if it was after she first said someone must take the blame.
Thank you for watching my Tad Talk.
I don't normally comment but I find it strange how much hate is in the comments. I understand people who have not gone through abusive situations might not get it ( and I don't wish for them too) but self hated is a very hard thing to fix (especially since this girl has not seen therapy) there's highs and lows to it and With her sister being "possibly" being alive. She internally struggling with how she's lived the past 16 years or so, constantly make sure she's out of the way for her sister and with her having thought she doesn't want to have (like wishing her sister is dead) she is basically relapsing due to all the high stress. yes, I wish the male lead would do more but how much can he push till he's crossing the line to controlling
Then there's the people who don't understand why this is getting an anime, there are hundreds of anime and not everyone of them is going to be your cup of tea. Instead of hating, why not activate and let the studios know what you want to see that way we can all have what we want.
Anyway thanks for listening to my TedTalk lol
