it’s not necessarily about their friends being supportive or not. if they tell one of their other close friends, and that friend tells another one of their close friends etc etc, then it’s out. once it’s out there’s nothing you can do about it. so it’s fine if you lie about your own sexuality, even to your friends. if they’re true friends they’ll be understanding even if they feel hurt once they find out.
The annoying point is that the seme took the time to say he's gay and the other one is just thrashing that. it's just bad.

you guys seem to think we, the ones annoyed by mc, don’t understand why he lied just bc we don’t like that he lied for his partner. he doesn’t have to come out, we aren’t asking him to. the point is that he lied for someone else without considering their feelings. ml is understanding and supportive but mc didn’t know he would be when he decided to lie. homophobia existing is not an excuse for that. we know about homophobia lol im gay. and nobody said him lying made him a bad person either like, this isn’t hard to get. it’s especially annoying for me bc im so sick of homophobia being a problem in fictional stories, ive experienced enough of it in real life i dont wanna hear about it anymore. and if you’re not some kinda gay i dont wanna hear shit from you.
