But the uke liked the Duke from the very beginning as well. Both versions are recollections of the present and the future. There was never a version of the duke that didn't know of the future. In all version the wish was made. In all versions the duke pushed the mc away. If you reread the story our duke is still the past duke that traveled in the future.
