Well, I'm not judging Calisto for being like that (it was very much coherent character design), but for our dear Lady his "no need to take this all so serious" was very much a life or death problem, not a moral one.
After all, she's so guarded and (understandably) focused on survival, she won't return love in any capacity, just ask for it (to survive) and struggle towards it without giving anything of herself (still, very much understandable)
