Can save you the trouble. There is a ‘chasing arc’, after more (I really mean more) torture of the MC. But the arc is basically the ML going after the MC who is being targeted by mercenaries for some silly reason and helping to protect him. So closeness makes them suddenly be loving and the ML never really apologizes for a lot of torture, since he only remembers the big ones
