iirc, in the VERY 1st life, Ines and Carcel were together and very in love. But just like every lifetime, Oscar was obsessed with Ines (to call it love is just not it).
In their first life, Oscar purposely sent Carcel to fight in wars hoping that he'd die and he could get Ines for himself. And I think Ines also had a weak body then? Whenever she got pregnant, somebody on Oscar's side would mess with her medications, so instead of helping her, they were causing her to have miscarriages and this really messed with her health (COULD BE WRONG so someone correct me if anything, its been a while).
BUT basically, Carcel died in battle, while Ines died at the same time in their home. The god asked them what their wishes were since their deaths were not their fault. I forgot what Ines asked for, but Carcel asked for her to always be happy even if she wasnt with him (?) But if nobody is giving her the life she deserves, then he'd like to be with her one more time.
And as for Oscar, he remembers everything from the very first life and uses the memories to manipulate Ines so she ends up with him. He's been an ass from day 1

Wait so by this last chapter and reading the comments, we can speculate that something bad happened in their first life (not the one Ines remembers, apparently there's a 1st before everything where Ines and Carcel get together)
Maybe Oscar did something that ended up locking them all in a loop?
Like dude got so jealous of Carcel and desired Ines so much in the first life that he sought out a higher power/curse that would make them all go back, then he could steal Ines for himself??
Or maybe I'm giving him too much credit, bc it wouldn't explain why in this current timeline he kinda just let them be
