i read on these translations but maybe i’m misremembering. i really doubt he meant “first love” in the same sense. he was CAPTIVATED by xinlu which is weird but i don’t think he meant it in that way. yuri never lusted over xinlu

Xinlu is arguably as fucked up as Ilay, he’s no victim. For almost their whole relationship he abuses Yuri physically, psychologically and rapes him.
Just so u know, even though I sympathize with Xinlu, I think Yuri deserves better.
Y'all need to read the novel first and I swear there is something weird about their dynamic. Like the fact that Yuri said Xinlu was his first crush when Xinlu was still a fucking child. I don't defend Xinlu's violent behaviors but Yuri is kinda creepy and Xinlu have been dealing with creeps his whole life. The difference is Yuri knows what's wrong and what's right. He also has so much patience and sympathy too. I personally think it would be better if Xinlu were a mad man like Ilay but nope, he is a victim of his own beauty, he loses faith in human but still fake smile every single day so people won't see his weakness. People've been thirsting over him since he was a child and that's sad. Plus, he's not even that into sex like many other MLS-
