thank youuu, plus he barely knows her, bro fell in love after 3 short interactions, i find it so idiotic. And he wants her to run away with him and abandon the person that went blind because of him after he just started to get better ??? talk about loyalty to your friend....everytime i see him i roll my eyes HARD.

You know I was all for Paula and Lucas and then I read these comments—y’all are really making a lot of sense. I think I just have severe case of second lead syndrome and that’s why I ignored the fact that he barely knew her and that even if he seemed innocent he wasn’t an idiot; he could see that his friend was getting better with Paula around only to ask Paula to run away with him?!?! You two are so right

Everyone knows that Paula loves the count but not the other way around.
The count was also in an arranged marriage; so there would have been no room for Paula to begin with, as we see from the last chapter.
He was trying to protect her at the end of the day; he's no stranger to how the nobles operate.
At least if the story went in that direction there'd be less death.

Yeah but it didnt turn out that way; I'm just providing reasons why people procide reasons for prefering Lucas.
Literally everyone around her was like, "don't love the count". And she was like :3.... It was hinted to us viewers since like chapter 25ish that it wouldn't go well. At the time we assume because he was married but as we find out soon enough, because of their power imbalance
Lucas and her had some special moments too, and yes it was too soon for anything to happen, I think their relationship was still developing. That doesn't mean it's impossible.
i don't understand rooting for lucas. he came into the home of the person who went blind for him and then pursued the woman that that person is in love with.... hahaha for me that's a realllll turn off.
