You got disliked to hell but I agree with you actually lol. Grief pirn, everyone's lives are the absolute worth they could possibly be and then they inflicted the absolute worst on others. It's a shame its told in such extremes because grounding it a bit more could result in something special...oh well!

I think the author is writing more with "vibes" in mind and trying to tell something interesting but it falls flat because as you said it's not really grounded in human reality in any way but it's all in extremes. Like, if you have a naive alien trying to improve some kids' lives fucked up doraemon style, only for it to find out the rough way that its intentions are not enough, that's a decent premise. However none of the people in this story have believable problems or react to them realistically. I'm not saying you cant go extreme, but then you need to make it believable. And I'm sorry but half the things that happen here I do not buy no matter the angle. Like it's not that kids in this story are drawn to extremes because of their inability to process their environments, because the adults are even more extreme than them. And the adults are either completely absent or sadistically cruel, or supposedly went mad from one day to the next with no explanation. If the point of the manga was just to be dark and edgy I'd say okay fine, but that's not what it's trying to do, it's trying to say something about human suffering and the undeserved cycles of violence people fall into, and it's just not good enough at doing that. Also, what's up with the octopus alien being some sorta jesus metaphor, literally absolving their suffering by sacrificing himself and everything is magically solved, like what?? It freaking dyed for their sins like stoppppp I cant-

I don't get why this went viral it's pretty badly written. Most people are caricatures and all of it is so divorced from reality already without the alien that it all doesn't really matter..
