That’s really sad… for me, sex scenes are nice as long as there’s plot involved. Series that puts sex first are kinda boring for me now. BL is so centered around sex already that there needs to be fresh material to follow it up

I think they mean that the new person coming into the story to create drama is unnecessary. It could have been reasonable if this was a mysterious thing that the story had hinted at to ML’s past throughout the story and not all of a sudden right now. (But I could be wrong as I forget the plot sometimes)
Absolutely agree I love stories that cover all aspects especially if the author is writing it with plot and saying “hey this is actually a story not just smut” because then we have something to look forward to reading whereas when it’s labelled as smut you know that if you want to read it then you can go in with no expectations or bias. I agree it’s a given that their will be sex scenes throughout BL and truly I’m tired of coming across some BL that is set up as if it’s got a good plot but then is only just sex and no plot like cmon author whyyy
