I cant believe I just got baited into thinking this was gonna be a good ass story??? Why did Dennis have to die, what do the sheep represent, why did Todd have to get to close to Dennis??? Like. Damn. I just feel like theres alit of motifs and symbolism without a narrative to connective them all

the narrative does connect it. todd isn't human. dennis was warned of this, to not trust anything coming down from the mountain. we see that when dennis sees the black wolf and shoots it in the leg/foot only for todd to come back with an injury on the same leg. more over, when todd is in his humanoid form the animals still have an aversion to him. his focus/gaze when dennis isn't looking is predatory. todd is a predator, to the sheep and to dennis who is much like the sheep. todd lures dennis in with seduction and affection which only leads to his ultimate demise same as todd killing the sheep. though this isn't all for nothing. todd wants, even needs love, validation, just someone else (like how wolves travel in packs). he doesn't like and doesn't want to be alone but also wants complete devotion from dennis. i'm sure with wolves the ultimate form of love is killing prey for them, like how dennis kills the sheep. it's all one big story of deception, obsession, and longing.

alright, I agree with you. This was a really good explanation. Im just still stuck on why dennis died, and what was the significance of Todd's voice in the end? Why was there a blood trail that led to nowhere? was that figurative or literal?

i think todd's voice was in dennis' head, but also sort of figurative for how he's brought dennis down to his level. dennis' death if just a sign of his obsessive devotion to todd until the end, i feel like we got hints to their unhealthy attachment to each other with how, in that time before when todd was gone dennis was going sort of stir crazy. i think the blood trail off the cliff was the blood of the sheep since dennis left them up there (hence why he had to come back because the owner knew that they possibly had time to save a few if he was fast enough). i think it trailing off was a bit of both, like it did create a trail in reality but also it was possibly sort of a road/path to his death ?
