The first scene IS A flashback and the tomb was 'Kobayashi's' parents who died and the vampire was in debt to them, I wasn't sure about the timeline even if I base it on the background details.
The setting is 1960s: my theory number 2 is that the tomb(modern time) was Kobayashi's himself... he died, sadly... then the story proceeds with the flashback. MIND THAT THIS IS ONLY A THEORY AND I AM NOT MAKING A STATEMENT THAT I 'KNOW' WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THE STORY.
I was just doubting if the first scene was the modern time or the flashback OR if it really was the 1960's because the ambiance of the plot is giving me some modern time feel... so I did some research...
