tbf, i think it's not that she's incompetent, it's more like she was sabotaged by the ml's mother, though it wasn't explicitly mentioned, when she first described her life as the duchess, you can see how things are never right for her no matter how much she tried.

FL is also insufferable.. her thoughts up until she married him consisted about how she suffered all her life, but she.. didn't? She lived a normal life.. not extravagant, but not shitty and definitely doesn't make sense for her to self-victimize herself. And then she marries him and doesn't even try to grow as a person, develop a personality or actually become a good duchess.. she's just.. nothing. She doesn't want to learn or read or ask, she just writes in her diary, accepts whatever task she's given without trying to learn how to do it, and honestly, some things she does are 100% embarrassing. You're a duchess now, insisting on attending a royal banquet wearing something old and in an crappy carriage, just to be there, why? Where's the logic in this? Where is her personality? All I see are dead eyes, weakness and insecurities.. hard to sympathize.
