Or how about we don’t involve rape at all?? It’s rlly not that hard not to sugarcoat it..like I get she’s just trying to get paid, but with her artstyle, it can’t be that hard to find a story that isn’t problematic shit like this, unless she finds them amusing herself..then that’s just weird on a whole other level

If you mean I’m sugarcoating the story to make it seem more pleasant, I’m really not? I’m just not in denial about reading it like most other people in the comments. I know full well that it’s a whole mess of rape and revenge.
Tbf, even if you think she and the author are weird for collaborating to bring this story to manhwa audiences, you and I are still here. You’ve made similar comments before. Tons of people still read it despite feeling “uncomfortable”. So I really think something must be working for them. Not to mention the manhwa on the official site has been super successful in the half a year it’s been around. People are always saying “Lee Geumsan should’ve worked on a happier, less problematic story instead” but they would’ve pirated it either way. The industry has no reason to change if people will only spend money on porn.

No, I mean the artist is sugarcoating it
And yes, I will admit, I have read stuff like that and dropped them just the same after posting my comment.
It just so happened that I forgot what this manwha was and was reading the latest chapter, confused and then realized that this was the same manhwa.
Full honesty here.
That still doesn’t make it morally okay for the artist to accept those commissions..wether you get paid or not, it’s the same as when a woman voluntarily works in the porn industry, it’s not empowering, it’s Inflation and capitalism..ntm they’re sexualizing/fetishizing a bunch of stuff that doesn’t need to be sexualized/fetishized..but that’s just my opinion

I respect your distaste for the manhwa and for problematic tropes in general but comparing some yaoi to an industry that’s designed to degrade and use women is certainly. A take. Full disclosure, I would like it if Lee Geumsan worked on more story-driven stuff, but I still support the art she makes regardless. Art as a medium is probably one of the safest and low-risk ways to engage with sexuality and erotica. And you might say “what if this content ends up in the wrong hands?” but this story is heavily protected by age restrictions and content warnings. Unfortunately aggregator sites make it accessible to everyone, including kids, but the scan team that works on it loads this shit up to the gills with tw’s. Just so everyone is aware that there is some deplorable fuckery about to go down. That’s about as safe as it can get in this internet climate.

Just to clear any sort of misunderstanding, perhaps I phrased it wrong but what I mean when "comparing" the two, I didn’t mean to imply that it’s the same but when it comes to morals and payments, those are the main focus..not the industry itself but the women voluntarily doing ageplay or even rape for example, just to get paid.
It doesn’t end well and doesn’t help anyone OUTSIDE of the industry, especially children, in that case.
So for them to take it as long as they get paid even tho it contains that’s stuff, is what I meant when I compared the two.
and I totally agree, I LOVE their art but I find it’s such a waste on a morally questionable story, and also the fact they’re fine with it, yk?
Not to mention, not only could this potentially trigger some sort of intrusive thought for any creep or predator, wtv you wanna call it,!but it could also trigger a victim..
But yea, unfortunately the trigger warnings are pretty much the only thing containing any sorf of safety on the internet

I genuinely do think the porn industry is an evil place, so I agree with you there. When you watch porn, there's no guarantee that you are watching a reputable production made by a studio that places all the agency in the hands of the actors. From the scenes to the editing to the way it's distributed, the people who are responsible for the product are usually being exploited. In fact, only a decade or two ago AV companies in Asia could straight-up detain actors and force them to act in scenes they didn't want to and face no legal repercussions. Sure, there are more laws that protect sex workers now, but there is always a power dynamic in pornography. That's why I support your average yaoi porn shit because it's probably the least detrimental form of monetized erotica we have. Nobody gets hurt in yaoi (well, aside from creators stuck in predatory contracts who have to pump out multiple updates per month for pennies) but it's way better than a system where men and especially women are put at risk just for people to jerk off to. You mention vulnerable people seeing this content, which is something I also feel strongly about because there are tons of bad actors online who post nsfw online just for the sake of exposing nonconsenting people to it. I've spoken against that in multiple comments on this site. There is no excuse for showing porn to kids, using porn to trigger people, or using the porn to coerce someone into a sexual situation. OBVIOUSLY. I just disagree with the notion that creators can't make certain stuff because "what if the wrong person gets their hands on it". Of course art doesn't exist in a vacuum, but there's a difference between someone making a very hardcore story with certain triggering themes, covering it with warnings, and restricting it for consenting adults vs some creepy ass fetish miner who doesn't gaf about the safety vulnerable people or the harm that could come to them. I just find it useless to put the onus of everyone's safety onto creators instead of collectively cracking down harder on the bad people looking to do harm.
Sorry for the big fuckass wall of text. I know our viewpoints are different but at least we can agree that Lee Geumsan should pick up some yuri just for everyone's blood pressure lmfao.
There’s no way someone would be okay with drawing this shit, even if it isn’t your story, this is just disgusting in so many ways.
