I mean one can still hold him accountable for his shitty actions and AT THE SAME TIME see what shaped him into being an asshole. This is back story not redemption arc in itself

Ik we are hating cuz he’s a red flag abuser etc but the author gave the back story not for sympathy but to kinda explain why he’s like that.
I mean it’s usually parents fault and it goes through generations until one decides to go to therapy so I guess it will end with him (it’d either way but still)
He’s not crystal clear and still acts like a dick but now we know it’s some self defence mechanism and that he was raised in abusive household then got into harsh world of sport and on top of that to boxing.
