i agree. if he had made progress to “redeem” his actions then the sob story would hit harder and be more meaningful, but i’m afraid the author is going to use his past as a means to excuse his prior actions. he needs to be groveling and begging for foregiveness for this shit to be moving.

It seems like author is following the same formula for these manwhas and tbh it is not that surprising. Unfortunately, originality and good storytelling is quite rare nowadays
For real! they’re probably being influenced by a lot of things to make what’s most successful, and BL (if it has good art) is inherently successful so there’s probably not much push to make a better narrative than what’s happening now
Cant really blame them because these kinds of manwha sells and they have to earn somehow hahaha. I know these are like the junk foods of manwhas/mangas but sometimes I wish we have more good stories *sigh*

A proper redemption arc can be done without a whole sob story first. Like that’s all important but it’s the stuff you add later when we actually give a shit about him and his beginnings.
But of course the author knows people are going to read it all anyway…
This is just my opinion but yeah at the very least I hope his redemption happens along side his past being revealed but if they do the whole past THEN redemption I feel it cheapens the efforts. Like you’re automatically going to feel more forgiving to him bc of his backstory but he doesn’t deserve it!! He hasn’t earned it!
