Thanks! Tbh if we were given a choice, i would want to change the ML, but he’s pretty okay treating the MC most of the time - minus the drug accusations, denying any mental health problems and ofc the forced sex scene. I would really wish the author reduced it to the point both fully consented with feelings. Whenever theres a random sex scene for every 4 chapters i feel like this is not yaoi but hentai, lol.
Sadly we never get a really healthy relationship in Yaoi that isn't overly sweet. I love my dramatic and dark themes, i would Just prefere them without unnecessery rape/misstreatment. I also feel like the random Sex scenes in yaoi are getting even more frequent... As If it's the only thing they have going for them. You're right, they act just Like those unrealistic straight porn manga in which you need to see at least one orgasm in one chapter lol

I feel like the ML is the type of person who’s like, “If you don’t fuck with me, I’ll be nice to you.”
Since the MC is maintaining his boundaries, not acting clingy, and things are generally going smoothly on the ML’s end, I’d assume that’s why he’s now treating the MC like a decent human being. Given that the ML used to have multiple flings, we can’t assume he’s doing this out of affection or that he’s slowly falling for the MC. That behavior seems more like a habit than genuine care.
However,
We can also see that in this chapter, the MC was never a love-struck fool. He’s fully aware that the ML doesn’t view him as an equal, and that there’s no real meaning behind the ML’s actions. He’s simply clinging to the last thread of hope the ML offers—just enough to escape his brother’s control. I’m guessing that once the "chasing arc" begins, the MC won’t be easily swayed by the ML. In fact, he might even show signs of PTSD in certain situations. For instance, in the last panel, we see him running away the moment their eyes meet—so it's clear he’ll be keeping his distance.
Overall, this is a very realistic portrayal of a contract relationship. The ML, as frustrating as he may be, is holding up his end of the contract. He’s not obligated to fall in love with the MC. He’s not as toxic as people claim—he’s more of a yellow flag swimming in a red sea..
