Sure. Sorry in advance for the long paragraph
The Summer Hikaru Died is currently being streamed by Netflix, they're notoriously known for making inaccurate sub translations tbh
However in the spanish subs the translator in charge purposely change the dialogue:
When MC asks the fake Hikaru "are you in love with me" and it replies "im in love with you" the translator change it to "te caigo bien?" ("Do you like me") and "me caes muy bien" ("I really like you") respectively. The thing is, unlike english, spanish has platonic and romantic terms for "like" and the translator is using the platonic ones. Not only they're erasing the queer aspects of the story but it doesnt even make sense in the context of what's happening

People started complaining harshly abt it and even other translators came out and said the translation is extremely inaccurate and can be considered censorship. The translator herself appear to defend herself and double down on her actions, saying she wanted to make a more "subtle" interpretation and that the animation didnt have to be a complete copy of the manga (even tho the anime adaption IS being very loyal to the manga dialogue)
Recently it was revealed that she's not even a japanese-spanish translator, she does english-spanish. She admitted to translate the subs from the english version, meaning she didnt even take into consideration the cultural context of the japanese since she doesnt know japanese at all

Currently fans from different countries are collecting firms to appeal the translation, along with some taking legal action since its illegal to censor LGBT works in their countries and all are collectively boycotting Netflix and trashing their socials

    Ooohhhhh thanks for the info.

I have seen other instances of bad translations or malicious translations, but it always shocks me that translators can't just be respectful of someone else's work.
