Have u seen the jp side of the fandom for this? Almost all of them ship them so im not surprised they leaned in this direction. Massive amount of ship art in the pixiv tag

99℅ of the fandom are literally shippers. They are the backbone of everything and the reason why karaoke iko/famiresu iko is so popular, especially in korea and japan. It's not surprising at all that the anime will be like this. This is putting aside the fact that this series legit has romantic tone in the first place lol.

ookay. But I don't think I'm reaching by inferring that telling kid Satomi he's lookin good all soaked in the rain is a drastic jump from telling him he's adorable after he had went out of his way to help out Kyouji by picking out song options for him..

I was worried about them changing the source material to the point that it can warp the overall vibe... especially considering the way the sequel is written, it would do the series a disservice if they add unnecessary flirting/advancements by Kyouji

I mean I honestly don't think the animators will,, I think they just wanted to include that cover art (But lol he couldve said so many other things instead of that)
I've only been able to read on here that's why I was asking if I missed something from the actual author themselves,, I don't care about the opinion of the fandom in this sense.

Apologies for the long comment. In chapter one, in the car scene towards the end, there's a scene of kyouji saying that people that sits in his car's front seat tend to leave and was wandering if it was because the seat was uncomfy. But that was a mistranslation. The original JP text was,

"この車は基本後部座席にしか人乗せへんけど 助手席に座った人間はなんでか俺から離れられへん"

"女も"

"聡実くんも"

"乗り心地がよろしいんでしょうなあ"

People have pointed out that the meaning was the complete opposite of the translation. He's basically saying that people that sits in that seat CAN'T seem to leave. With satomi's change in expression, the context of that scene is completely different. In the airport scene, he revealed that he choose to have satomi's name tattooed on his arm. In karaoke iko, kyouji was someone who does something creepy or romantic accidentally without meaning to come off that way. He just does shit .

This is what makes the change kyouji had in the sequel more impactful. He went from someone that does things without really thinking much of it to ""distancing"" himself from satomi because he feels the weight of satomi's feelings towards him, choosing to take a seat back and let satomi lead where the relationship is going.

And also, from your main comment, it seems like you're uncomfortable with their ages in karaoke iko? I know you said you don't care about the fandom's opinion, but their marketplace is korea and japan. I'll be honest with you, they don't care about the morals regarding that, including wayama, the author herself. She knows about the fandom and acknowledged it. They love kyosato's extreme age gap even if satomi is 14, in fact, that makes it even more appealing to them

Ummm i don't know where the rest of my comment went cause I'm not seeing it here, but i was saying that karaoke iko only has 2,5 chapters, they're gonna have to add fillers, there's a chance for more scenes like the one you mentioned here. I'm sure wayama is aware and is seeing the things that are added. Sorry if i sound aggressive , i find this topic interesting and i tend to go on a tangent when i see it .

Yeah, the fanart is not even of aged up oka. It’s almost all middle school okathey def gonna add more fanservice scenes since the target audience loves it. If it bothers you OP I’d suggest dropping it

-About the translation in the car :: thank you! See that's what I wonder about at times, being at the mercy of translations and how not being a native speaker as well as resident of said area can have an impact on how we interpret things.

I also think its worth noting that Kyouji talks about how other brothers in the organization have been mentors prior, even mentioning how one of the guys tutors. And then in the sequel the author chose to have it known that Kyouji is estranged from his family and his nephew is around Satomi's age. I don't think he approached Satomi with the intention of a romantic relationship but became aware of how Satomi felt towards him as they spent more time together.
What makes this story so unique is that it does toe the line of inappropriate (regardless of societal opinions about age of consent.. ((firm believer in that the law does not always coincide with what is morally and ethically right))) yet it doesn't really cross that line you typically see in BL that write about this topic.

And its not fully the age gap for me, its the potential overt addition of romantic gestures in the anime cus again I think it takes away from the incredibly complex story the author has created.

We'll see how the episodes play out. There were additions I enjoyed like having Kyouji act silly goofy getting into during his first time singing in front of Satomi.
