I finished reading this a long time ago so maybe some details are incorrect but here’re what I remember: for the rest of Idris’ knights, Violette became the princess’ knight at the end while the red-haired one became the leader of revolutionaries and they aimed to end aristocracy and build a republic, this hasn’t been addressed clearly in the ending so I guess the author will handle this issue in the side stories, the short-haired one become a medic, the rest are shattered and going on their own paths.
About the prince and Idris’ childhood friendship, the prince came to Idris’ village when he heard his knights got knocked down by a kid, the prince then convinced Idris to became his personal knight because of his outstanding swordsmanship and Idris agreed because he didn’t want the villagers to get attacked by the royal knights of the prince. Their relationship actually went well at first and they were good friends until Idris almost got assassinated by the prince’s older brother’s guard, which had led the prince to become overprotective and obsessed towards Idris. He then poisoned his older brother and started isolating Idris from others with the reason of protecting Idris from external dangers. Their relationship reached its downfall when the prince Idris because he refused to follow his orders (something like invading Idris’ motherland aside his hometown). Still the prince proceed to make Idris kill all the villagers and manipulated him, making him become a war hero as he is in the beginning of the story
can someone spoil to me what happens to the rest of idris' knights and what was up with the prince's and idris' hinted childhood friendship? bc i cannot read anymore of this (i stopped at the end of s1). mostly bc i'm reading the comments and apparently the ending doesn't feel satisfactory. while i can totally get that in real life, after so much abuse and seemingly never-ending tyranny, it's probably believable that the victims are just happy and relieved that the prince is dead and gone, regardless of whether or not he actually got dished any karmic justice for all that he's done against them. like revenge isnt even a priority anymore underneath longterm conditions of severe abuse- you just want nothing to do with them atp. but i personally cannot read that type of ending after reading that entire first season of just plain (and pretty explicit) abuse and humiliation against not only idris, but the rest of the order. like i just wanted to know what's up with the prince and idris' old friendship, and how the rest of the knights turned out (rip ivor, tho)
