To me it sounds like the teacher is saying they won't form a pair just because they like each other since if a fated other came along one is left behind. I read it as they are fated, or at least become fated. Like they won't find someone else seeing as its unfair to the other to no long have a pair.

I am a little worried about the ending, if this story isn't done yet. The teacher's speech at the end, about alphas not being able to resist a fated pair, even after they've paired with another omega because of emotional attachment...and the fact that this pair aren't fated...*wrings hands*
