Thorn is also being racist/xenophobic. He degrades his son Huey for daring to speak to his omega uncle, but blames “his Hanu blood” for which his wife immediately apologizes. His wife likely has some Hanu heritage which has obviously infected the child with a debilitating illness that causes him to not hate/degrade omegas on sight, you know…since culture is inherited genetically.
